April 3, 2007 Beginning of construction entrance in the Park, which connect M-17 on Bregava bridge with park. Road signalization will also be placed. Work in progress.
April 2, 2007 Adaptation of motel “Karaotok” for coming 27th World Championship in sport fishing has been started. Financed by government of HNŽ/K, and part by governement of FBiH.
March 17, 2007 NGO „Močvara“ from Čapljina has organize with his eco section educational visit to Nature park Hutovo blato. Group of students with profesors and Stjepanom Maticem which is Head of nature protection and leader of project, has spend a day in nature. This project is very important because it gives a base for further educational programs.
February 21, 2007Armed Forces of BiH started with the shipment of the pontoon bridge, followed by transportation and assembly on river Krupa, to enable access to sports fishing path.
February 3, 2007Fire broke out in the afternoon. Due to low water level and dry vegetation above the ground, fire spread quickly carried by strong wind. The raging fire destroyed the most part of the flooding cane meadows in the upper part of the park, as well as brinks the hill. Bird nesting areas were destroyed again, and because of continuously long warm period of that year, birds starting pairing and nesting even sooner. In addition, some tree and bush type vegetation was permanently damaged. Further activities were ongoing.
January 9, 2007 A group of ornithologists made a field trip to conduct a survey of the airborne fauna during the increased bird migration to and across these areas. To the satisfaction of all attendees, we found an impressive number of birds, including the fact that some flocks were spread across water surface of even up to 2 kilometers. On this occasion, the survey included the status of swamp birds, for which the numbers ranged from one bird to several thousands in case of some species.
December 27, 2006 Commencement of work on repair of the road of approximately 550 m under Karaotok, which leads to the future pontoon bridge on river Krupa, which is the location of the competition trail.
November 17, 2006 Meeting of the Event Organization Committee for the Sports Fishing World Championship in ‘Hutovo blato’ Nature Park – Karaotok 2007. The meeting was attended by chairmen and members of committees (working groups) in charge of specific activities. Results to date were discussed, as well as future tasks until completion of this very important and demanding project, for the Park itself, the local community and the whole country of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
November 16 and 17, 2006 Visit and a business meeting of the State Working Commission (forestry tools) for high value forests, as a part of which we visited parts of the Park inhabited by the swamp ash – Fraxinus angustifolia Vahl and degraded forest areas in the surrounding hills.
October 6, 2006 Visit to the upper part of the Park (Gornje Blato – Upper Swamp) and registration of status of swamp birds during this period, in expectation of the largest arrival of migratory species to this area. The assessment of numbers was good for the given period, as are the conditions for the stay of birds.
September 7, 2006 The autumn work started on the reconstruction of the sports fishing path, with newly acquired equipment and engagement of all available staff in the Park.
September 3, 2006 Visit of the Minister Katica Čerkez with the experts from the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism. The Park tour included the photo-safari in ships, when the Minister and her associates were interested in hearing more about the forthcoming Sports Fishing World Championship, the functioning, difficulties and other activities in the Park.
August 6, 2006 In the afternoon, there was a sudden change of weather, which caused overcast, lightning and thunders. This caused a minor scale fire at the location of Merdžan’s Willows, which was extinguished by the rain after one hour.
In early February, on February 7, 2006, 7 swans were registered at Svitavsko lake. The permanent stay of some birds was recorded until mid March 2006.
March 31 A flock of cranes of 124 birds stayed at the location Kilavice, in the immediate vicinity of the ‘Karaotok’ motel.
Between April 4 and 13, 2006 the Park was visited by a group of biologists from the Italian Tuscany region, within the UCODEP – SEENET program implementing the project entitled ‘Development of tourist offer of the ‘Hutovo Blato’ Nature Park’.
On May 4, 2006, during the regular field patrol of the Park, carp spawning was recorded at the locations of Small and Big Glacica.
May 11, 2006 The representative of the Sports Fishing Association of BiH came to the Park to visit the fishing path that will host the competition of sports fishermen in the premier league.
